How Stallrow helps you avoid overselling

One count behind every channel, updated by every sale. Here is how it works, and the honest limits to keep in mind.

Updated Oct 25, 2026

Overselling is selling something you no longer have. Stallrow reduces the risk by keeping one count behind every channel.

How it works

  • One count per location. See Stock locations explained.
  • Every sale lowers it once. That includes the register, your storefront and any marketplace order.
  • Every listing is then marked as needing an update, and Stallrow sends the new quantity to each marketplace within minutes.
  • Each marketplace is sent what you can ship yourself. Amazon and Walmart warehouse stock only counts on their own listings, unless you turn on multi-channel fulfilment.
  • Selling at zero stock is blocked at the register unless you switch it on.
  • Your storefront holds items for 30 minutes while a shopper pays. If payment does not complete, the items go back on the shelf.
  • Low-stock alerts show on the dashboard.

Watching it

Open Stock sync. It shows what is waiting to be sent, what failed and why, and lets you press Try again. A failure usually means the listing is not published yet or the connection needs approving again. See Troubleshooting connections.

The honest limits

  • There is a short delay. A change reaches a marketplace within minutes, not instantly. If your last unit sells on two marketplaces in the same few minutes, both sales can happen.
  • Counts are only as good as what you tell Stallrow. If stock arrives, breaks or goes missing, record it. Every change is written to a history that is only ever added to, never edited.
  • A marketplace can lag. Some are slower to show a new quantity.

Habits that help

  1. Receive new stock into Stallrow the day it arrives.
  2. Count a few fast sellers each week and correct any difference.
  3. For items with only a few units left, check Stock sync before a busy day.
  4. Keep Amazon and Walmart counts fresh by letting Stallrow check them. Their number is the real one.

If you do oversell

Contact the customer quickly, cancel the order on the marketplace and correct your count. Marketplaces have their own rules about cancellations, so read them in your seller account.
