Banking tools
Match reasons, bulk coding and accepting, rules with a test run, transfers, find and recode, a watched folder and the reconcile summary.
Updated Nov 2, 2026
These tools sit on the Banking screen. They save time when you have many bank lines.
Match reasons
Each suggestion shows why it was suggested: rule, match (amount and date, or an open document with the same amount), or memory ("Remembers your choice: last time this payee went here"). The Done tab has a "Why" column.
Accept many at once
- Open Banking, then For review.
- Tick the suggestions you want. Confident ones start ticked.
- Press Accept N selected and check the table.
- If you change your mind, press Undo these. Lines that cannot be undone, such as one in a finished reconciliation, are listed.
Cash coding
- Open the Cash coding tab.
- Filter by words and choose the lines.
- Pick one account, or a percent split, plus a tax rate included in the amount and a tracking option.
- Press Record the chosen lines. A line that cannot post is listed and the rest go through. You can undo the batch.
Set up the sales tax receivable and payable accounts first, or the tool says so.
Rules
Open the Rules tab. A rule watches the description, the payee, an amount range and money in or out. It can use one account or split across up to three (they must add to 100), and a tax rate and tracking option. Press Test run to see how many waiting lines it would catch. Nothing changes. Then Save rule. Press Apply the rules to waiting lines to run them.
Transfers
Money moving between your own accounts is a transfer, not income or an expense. The Transfers tab pairs a waiting out line with a waiting in line of the same amount within seven days. Press Pair them to post one entry. Undo the transfer to separate them.
Find and recode
Open Find and recode. Search recorded lines, choose some, and change the account, tax rate or tracking option. A recorded entry is never edited. It is reversed and posted again with your change, and your required note is kept in the history. A line in a locked period is refused, and nothing changes. Entries made by an invoice or payment must be voided instead.
Watched folder
Press Watch a folder… and type a folder such as Downloads. New OFX, QFX, QBO and CSV files in it are offered, then opened in the usual import preview. It checks only when the Banking screen is open. The same file is never offered twice. It works in the Mac and Windows apps only.
Reconciliation summary
At the top of the Reconcile tab. It compares the statement balance with your books on that date. It lists bank lines not yet in the books and entries with no bank line.
Not checked yet
- These screens were never looked at in a signed-in app. They were checked through tests of the engine and for errors on load.
- The transfer entry carries the date of the money-out line.
- Foreign-currency bank accounts: see multi-currency for the gaps.
