The inspection page lists the items checked on a vehicle, grouped by section. You will be able to give each item a result, add notes and record the hours and parts you recommend.
Before you start #
You need the owner, manager, advisor or technician role. Open an inspection from the repair order it belongs to or from its address.
Steps #
- Open the inspection. The heading reads "Inspection" followed by its number. Under it you see the inspection status, the customer and, when known, the odometer.
- Read the summary line and the line "Recommended work": it adds up the recommended hours and parts across all items.
- Find an item under its section heading. Each item shows its current result as a badge: Good, Watch, Urgent, Not applicable or Not checked.
- Choose the Result for the item. The choices are Good, Watch, Urgent and Not applicable. The first choice, Not checked, leaves the item open.
- Add Notes if needed (up to 500 characters).
- Enter "Recommended hours" and "Recommended parts" for work you advise.
- Choose Save on that item. Each item saves on its own, and the totals at the top update.
- Scroll to Photos to see the photos on the inspection, with their captions. When there are none, the page says "Nothing to show yet."
- Choose "Open the order" at the top to go to the linked repair order. The link shows when the inspection belongs to an order.
Technical details
- The page loads
/shop/inspections/{id}and saves one item at a time with a patch on/shop/inspections/{id}/items/{item id}. - The recommended parts amount is typed in your currency and stored in minor units.
If something goes wrong #
- The recommended parts field shows a problem: enter the amount as a plain number.
- A message appears under an item after Save: read it and try again. Other items keep what you saved.
