Backups and snapshots
A snapshot is a saved copy of the company file you can return to. Take one before big changes.
Updated Nov 2, 2026
A snapshot is a complete copy of your company file at one moment.
When snapshots are made
- You can take one at any time with the snapshot button.
- Take one before an import, before closing a month and before erasing anything.
Self-repair
If the company file is damaged, the program checks the file and offers to restore the newest good snapshot. While it is being repaired the company is read-only and nothing is changed.
Keep copies elsewhere
On Mac and Windows the data is on your computer. A snapshot kept on the same disk does not protect you from losing the disk. Copy snapshots to another drive or folder from time to time.
A snapshot is encrypted the same way as the company. To open one you need the password or the recovery key.
