Recovery key
The recovery key opens your company file if you forget the password. Save it away from this computer.

Company files on Mac and Windows are encrypted. The recovery key is a long code that opens the file if the password is lost or the keychain is unavailable, for example on a new computer.
What to do
- Export the recovery key when you first create the company.
- Print it or write it down, and keep it somewhere safe that is off this computer.
- Do not email it to yourself or store it in a shared folder.
Important
- Nobody can recover the key for you. Without the password and the key, the file cannot be opened.
- Anyone who has the key can open the file. Keep it as carefully as you keep the file.
