Checked against Pop Dispatch 0.1.0

A load earns its rate (the linehaul) plus any charges: detention, layover, lumper, truck ordered not used, and others. Once the load is delivered you raise one invoice for the broker or shipper. The invoice appears in Billing like any other invoice, with payments, statements and reminders.

Before you start #

  • The load is Delivered.
  • The customer has a trucking profile with payment terms.

Steps #

  1. Open the load and look at Charges.
  2. For detention, choose Work out detention. Pop Dispatch reads the arrival and departure at each stop and the free minutes and hourly rate set on the load. It adds a charge for each stop that ran over.
  3. For layover, lumper or anything else, choose Add charge. Pick the kind, type a short description and the amount. Tick Bill the customer if the customer pays it. Tick Pay the driver if the driver is paid it or paid it out of pocket.
  4. Remove a charge that is wrong with Remove. A charge cannot change after the invoice is raised.
  5. Choose Invoice. The invoice has a freight line and one line for each charge you billed. Its due date follows the customer's payment terms.
  6. The load moves to Invoiced. When the invoice is paid in Billing, the load shows Paid.
Technical details
  • Detention starts at the later of the arrival and the start of the appointment window, runs to departure, pays after the free minutes, and rounds up to the next 15 minutes.
  • Per-mile freight is the rate times the loaded miles on the load.
  • POST /trucking/loads/:id/charges/detention, POST /trucking/loads/:id/charges, DELETE /trucking/loads/:id/charges/:cid and POST /trucking/loads/:id/invoice.

If something goes wrong #

  • Invoice a load after it is delivered: the driver still has a stop to finish, or proof of delivery is missing.
  • The load has no rate yet: set the rate on the load.
