Checked against Pop Dispatch 0.1.0

With a flight feed, a trip that carries a flight number can show whether the flight is scheduled, active, landed, delayed or cancelled, with its estimated arrival, delay and terminal. You will be able to add your key, test it and switch the feed on.

You bring your own feed key from the provider, Aviationstack. The feed stays off until you add the key and switch it on. The provider's own plans and prices apply to your account.

Before you start #

Only the owner saves the key and switches the feed on. Dispatchers can read its card and the flight status on a trip.

Steps #

  1. Get an API key from your account with the provider.
  2. Open Settings, then Connections and find the flight feed card. It shows off, saved, connected or error.
  3. Paste the key and save. Pop Dispatch seals it and hides it after saving.
  4. Choose Test connection. A passing test confirms the key works.
  5. Switch the feed on. The switch works after a passing test.
  6. Open a trip that has a flight number. The flight card shows the status, scheduled and estimated arrival, delay in minutes, terminal and when it was last checked. Refresh it when you want a new reading.

To stop, switch the feed off, or remove it to delete the saved key.

Technical details
  • GET /integrations/flights, PUT /integrations/flights with api_key, POST /integrations/flights/test, POST /integrations/flights/enable with enabled, and DELETE /integrations/flights.
  • Per trip: GET /taxi/trips/:id/flight and POST /taxi/trips/:id/flight/refresh. Refresh calls the provider only while the feed is on.
  • The status is one of none, scheduled, active, landed, delayed, cancelled or unknown.

If something goes wrong #

  • Test connection fails: re-copy the key and test again. The card shows the last error.
  • A trip shows no flight status: the feed is off, or the trip has no flight number.
