Checked against Pop Dispatch 0.1.0

Many estimating systems export an estimate as a CIECA BMS file (XML). Pop Dispatch reads the vehicle damage estimate message and adds its lines to a repair order. You see every line before anything is added.

Before you start #

  • Export the estimate from your estimating system as BMS (XML). Choose one estimate per file.
  • The repair order must be open.

Steps #

  1. Open the repair order, choose Order work and go to Estimate file (BMS).
  2. Choose the file. The page lists the estimate number, claim number, insurer, vehicle and every line with its kind, quantity and price.
  3. Lines that were left out show under Lines left out with the reason, such as a line with no price.
  4. Choose Add these lines to the order. Part lines come in as parts, labour lines as labour (refinish hours as paint labour) and sublet lines as sublet.
  5. Insurer name and claim number fill the order's blank insurance fields.

Supplements in the file #

A supplement file adds its lines as a numbered supplement that waits for the insurer's answer. A supplement that already exists on the order is refused.

Reading the same file twice #

The same file cannot be read into the same order twice.

Technical details
  • The reader follows the element paths of the CIECA BMS vehicle damage estimate message: DocumentInfo, ClaimInfo, AdminInfo, VehicleInfo, and one DamageLineInfo per line with PartInfo, LaborInfo or SubletInfo. Namespace prefixes are ignored.
  • Labour type codes: LAR is paint, LAM mechanical, LAE electrical, LAD diagnostic, and the rest body.
  • POST /shop/orders/:id/bms with content (the XML text), file_name and dry_run.

If something goes wrong #

  • The file holds a different kind of message. Export the estimate again as BMS (XML).
  • This estimate file was already read into this repair order. Open the order's lines to see them.
