Your records always belong to you. A licence controls whether you can add or change records. It never locks you out of reading, exporting or backing up what you already have.
The three modes #
| Mode | What works |
|---|---|
| Full | Everything your plan includes. |
| Grace | A term licence has ended and its grace days are running. Everything works, with a reminder to renew. |
| Read-only with export | You can open, read, export and back up all records. Adding or changing records and new connections are paused. |
When read-only starts #
- No licence has been entered yet.
- The licence has ended and its grace days are over. A free trial has no grace days: it moves to read-only on its last day.
- The licence has been withdrawn.
- The licence file is for a different computer.
- More than 45 days have passed since the computer last checked the licence.
Steps to get back to Full #
- Connect the computer to the internet.
- Open the licence screen and choose to check the licence. A successful check restores the offline allowance straight away.
- If the licence has ended, renew it and check again.
- If the licence is for a different computer, sign in to your account and move the licence to this computer.
Technical details
- The licence file is signed by Studio. The app verifies the signature against a public key built into the app, and checks that the file is for Pop Street Dispatch.
- The 45-day limit counts from the last successful check. A computer clock that has been turned back never adds time: the app decides using the newest time it has seen.
- A refused check (withdrawn, ended, wrong product or suspended) keeps the app fully usable for the licence's grace days, then moves it to read-only.
If something goes wrong #
If the check keeps failing while the internet works, contact your supplier with the licence key shown on the licence screen.
