The Money dashboard puts four charts on one page: money owed, revenue, how busy your people are and what your trucks cost. Each chart has the same figures as a table, one button away. The numbers agree with the Reports page.
Before you start #
- Only owners, managers and advisors can open it. Look for "Money dashboard" in the menu.
Steps #
- Open "Money dashboard".
- Under "Date range", set the "First day" and the "Last day". Set "Owed as of", the day the money owed is counted on. Choose "Update".
- A line under the controls repeats your choice, for example the two dates and the day money owed is counted. When the first day comes after the last day, the page says so and waits for a fix.
- Read the four charts. Each bar prints its label and value, so you never rely on colour alone.
- On any chart, choose "Show as table" to read the same figures in a table. Choose "Show as chart" to go back.
- When a chart has no data for your dates, it says "Nothing to show for these dates."
What each chart counts #
- Money owed, by days late: open balances on invoices, in five groups by the due date: Not yet due, 1 to 30 days late, 31 to 60 days late, 61 to 90 days late and Over 90 days late. Under the title, "Open balances in all" gives the total. The table columns are Days late, Invoices and Owed.
- Revenue by kind of work: invoices issued in the range, before tax, grouped as towing, shop, taxi, freight and other. Tow calls and yard fees count as towing, repair orders as shop, invoices raised from a freight load as freight, and the rest as other. Taxi fares collected are included.
- Drivers and technicians: drivers are listed by revenue on their calls, with the number of calls. Technicians are listed by hours billed as a percent of hours clocked, with the jobs done. The table columns are Role, Name, Jobs, Hours billed, Hours clocked and "Billed as a percent of clocked".
- Truck costs: the fuel, repairs and other costs recorded on each truck in the range, with a total. A legend names each colour. Voided expenses are left out.
Light, dark and keyboard #
- The charts use the console's colours, so they read in both light and dark themes. Choose the theme in Settings, Theme.
- Every control is a normal field or button. Press Tab to move between them and Enter or Space to press a button. Each chart's table is a real table that a screen reader reads row by row.
Technical details
- The page reads
GET /dashboard/money?from=&to=&as_of=(money roles). - Ageing runs from the due date. Revenue, ageing and truck costs share one working with the Reports page.
- Hours are stored in tenths of an hour and shown as hours.
If something goes wrong #
- "The first day comes after the last day.": swap the two dates.
- A chart is empty: widen the date range. Ageing depends on "Owed as of", and the other charts on the date range.
- The menu has no Money dashboard: only owners, managers and advisors see it.
