The Connect devices step connects driver phones and the Mac and Windows apps to this server. Driver phones scan a QR code. The Mac and Windows apps take a link code that you type in. Each code works once and lapses after 24 hours.

Before you start #

Check that the address shown in Address phones use to reach this server is the right one. Phones must be on the same network as this computer, or you must have set a public address in Settings.

Steps #

The Connect devices step with the server address, the Make a phone code button with its QR code, the Make a Mac or Windows link code button with its link code, and Continue.
One code for each phone and each computer.
  1. Read Address phones use to reach this server. Phones must be able to reach this address.
  2. For a driver phone, select Make a phone code. The page shows a QR code. Open the driver app on the phone and scan the code.
  3. For a Mac or Windows computer, select Make a Mac or Windows link code. The page shows the code in words under "Type this link code in the Mac or Windows app". Type the code into the app on that computer.
  4. Make a new code for each device. Each code works once and lapses after 24 hours.
  5. Select Continue when your devices are connected. You can make more codes later.
Technical details
  • The QR code holds a link in this form: psdenrol:// followed by the server's host and port, a slash, and the code.
  • The phone code and the link code are one-time codes. Each stops working after its first use or after 24 hours.
  • If the server answers only on its own computer, phones cannot reach it. The step shows a note saying so.
  • A public address for the server is set in Settings. The public address and trusted proxies article explains it.

If something goes wrong #

  • "This server answers on this computer only, so phones cannot reach it yet." Ask whoever installed the server to let it listen on the shop network.
  • The code no longer works. Codes lapse after 24 hours and stop working after one use. Make a new code.
  • The phone scans the code but does not connect. Check that the phone is on the same network as this computer, or on the network of the public address.
