Switch from Busy
How to export your books from Busy and bring them into Pop Books.
Updated Nov 2, 2026
Busy can send its masters and reports to Excel. Pop Books accepts .xlsx and .csv from Busy.
What to export
- Open the list of accounts (the account masters) and the lists of parties and items. For each, use the Excel export button on the screen or the Export option in the print menu.
- Open the Trial Balance report. Set the date to your cut-over date, the last day you use Busy, and export it to Excel.
- For open items, export the outstanding receivables and payables reports at the same date.
- Only for full history: export the Day Book or the General Ledger for all dates.
Busy's column names and sign convention are among the less certain parts of this importer. Every column can be re-mapped by hand, and the proof check shows any difference.
Then, in Pop Books
- Choose Switch from… in the side rail and pick Excel (or Switch by pasting cells).
- Drop in your files, or paste cells. Pop Books checks the columns and shows what it found. You can change any match.
- Choose your cut-over date. This is the day you start in Pop Books.
- Choose what to bring in. Balances at the cut-over date is recommended. Full general ledger history brings in every journal.
- Run the dry run. It shows what would come in and any rows to look at. Nothing is written.
- Choose Bring it in.
- Download the proof check (PDF). It sets the old trial balance next to the new one at the cut-over date and lists any difference.
Good to know
- You can choose Undo this switch for 30 days. Documents are voided and entries reversed. The history keeps both.
- Credit notes and partly paid documents are not brought in as documents. They are listed as rows to look at.
- Menu names change between versions of Busy. If a name differs, look for the closest one.
- No real export from Busy has been tried yet. The steps come from general knowledge, so treat them as a starting point.
- Pop Books never signs in to Busy and makes no network call to it.
