Checked against Pop Dispatch 0.1.0

The Import your data step brings your records over from your old system or a spreadsheet. It is optional. Select Skip for now to move on, and import later from Settings, then Import data.

Before you start #

Get your files out of the old system first. The articles Importing from Towbook, Importing from PRZM, Importing from Mitchell 1 and Importing from a spreadsheet say what to ask for.

Steps #

The step has five parts: Source, File, Columns, Check and Done. Back returns to the previous part.

  1. Under Source, choose where your data comes from and what you are bringing over, then select Next. Each choice has a sample file you can download and a note on how to get the data out of the old system.
  2. Under File, select Choose a CSV or Excel file and pick your file. The page says how many rows it read and what the file looks like.
  3. Under Columns, check the column Pop Dispatch picked for each field and change any that are wrong. Fields marked required need a column. Choose what happens when a record is already on file, and how to read dates such as 3/4/2024.
  4. Select Check the file and read Check before you import: how many rows will be added, filled in or left alone, and the rows with problems.
  5. Select Run a test to see the result without adding anything, then select Import (the button names the row count, for example Import 40 rows).
  6. The step reports "Import finished". Select Undo this import if it was a mistake. You have 7 days. Then select Continue.
  7. To leave without importing, select Skip for now at any time before the import runs. You can come back later in Settings, then Import data.

Import customers before vehicles, history and open invoices.

Technical details
  • This step uses the same routes and rules as the Import data page in Settings.
  • The step is saved with the rest of setup, so a refresh returns you to it.
