The Trucks and people step imports lists from spreadsheets saved as CSV files. Each file is checked first. Nothing is added until you choose Import. You can skip this step and add people later.
Before you start #
Save each list from your spreadsheet as a CSV file. Import customers before customer vehicles, because each vehicle is matched to a customer by phone number.
Steps #

- Choose the list you want: Trucks, Drivers, Customers, or Customer vehicles.
- Select Download a sample file to get a file with the right column names.
- Fill the sample with your data and save it as a CSV file. The columns are:
- Trucks:
unit_no,year,make,model,vin,registration_no. Theunit_nocolumn is required. - Drivers:
name,phone. - Customers:
name,phone,email,company. - Customer vehicles:
customer_phone,year,make,model,vin,registration_no.
- Trucks:
- Select Choose a CSV file and pick your file.
- Select Check the file. Nothing is added at this point. The page shows how many rows are ready to add and how many are already on file.
- Read Problems to fix. Each problem gives the row number, the field, and the reason. Fix those rows in your spreadsheet, save the file, and check it again.
- Select Import. The page shows how many rows were added and how many were kept because they were already on file.
- Repeat for each list. Repair bays need no list, because each repair order names its bay.
Technical details
- Rows with no problem are added when you select Import. The check step adds nothing.
- A truck unit number or a customer phone number that is already on file is kept as it is and counted under "already on file". The row is never added twice.
- A customer vehicle is matched to a customer by
customer_phone. Import the customers first so that the match can be made.
If something goes wrong #
- A row appears under Problems to fix. Fix the field named in the row and check the file again.
- A customer vehicle does not match a customer. Import the customers first, then check that the phone numbers are the same in both files.
- A truck row has no unit number. Add a value to the
unit_nocolumn for that row.
