Checked against Pop Dispatch 0.1.0

The Release the vehicle card ends a vehicle's stay when its owner or an authorised person collects it. You will be able to record who took it, confirm every check and keep the result on the record.

Before you start #

  • You need the dispatcher, advisor, manager or owner role. Only an owner or manager can release with the balance left on account.
  • Clear any hold first. A hold shows a note above the form, for example "A Police hold is on this vehicle. Clear it before release."

Steps #

  1. Open Yard, choose a vehicle and find Release the vehicle.
  2. Type the name in Released to.
  3. Under Release checklist, tick all three: the person collecting showed identification, proof of ownership or a signed authorization is on file, and the person collecting is authorized to take the vehicle.
  4. With the Pennsylvania rule set on, a second list named Release checks appears. Tick each item too.
  5. Tick The person collecting has signed the release. Print the Vehicle release form first from Notices and forms if you need paper.
  6. Settle the balance. To leave it on account, an owner or manager ticks Release with the balance on account (owner or manager).
  7. Select Release the vehicle. The button stays grey until every box is ticked and Released to has a name.
  8. The page then reads "Released to ... on ... Storage: ... days, ..." and, when a balance remains, "... was left on account." This line stays on the record.
Technical details
  • The page sends POST /tow/yard/:id/release with released_to, the three checklist answers, signed and, for a balance on account, override_balance.
  • The record keeps the days and charge frozen at release.

If something goes wrong #

  • A hold message: clear the hold, then release.
  • A balance message: invoice and take payment (see "Add yard fees and invoice a vehicle's storage"), or ask an owner or manager to release with the balance on account.
