Getting started 5: Import your bank
Load a statement file from your bank and match each line.
Updated Nov 2, 2026
Pop Books does not log in to your bank. You download a statement file from your bank, and Pop Books reads it.
Do it
- Sign in to your bank's website and download a statement as a CSV file. OFX, QFX and QBO files also work.
- Open Bank and choose the bank account.
- Choose the file. Check the preview. If a column is wrong, change it. Make sure money in and money out are the right way round.
- Confirm. Lines you already imported are skipped, so overlapping files are safe.
- Sort each line: Match it to an open invoice or bill, Categorise it (a bank fee, say), or Exclude it.
Rules remember how you sorted similar lines. You can undo any action until you finish reconciling.
Save time
Choose Watch a folder… and pick your Downloads folder. New bank files there are offered to you.
