Pop Dispatch has an import profile for Shopmonkey. It reads customers, vehicles, fleet accounts and parts (Shopmonkey's inventory), and Shopmonkey is a choice on the Import data page.
Shopmonkey's help center publishes no column names for its exports, so the profile is marked as not verified and Pop Dispatch matches each column by its name. Check the columns step on every file and change any choice from its list.
Before you start #
- You need the owner or manager role.
- Shopmonkey's help article How do I export shop data lists what can be exported: Customers, Vehicles, Fleets, Vendors, Inventory and Reports. Its export button sits on the screen where you view each kind of record.
- Pop Dispatch reads CSV and Excel (.xlsx) files. Shopmonkey describes its export file as XLS. If your file is an older .xls, open it in Excel or Google Sheets and save it as .xlsx or CSV.
Steps in Shopmonkey #
- Open Lists and choose the list you want, for example Customers.
- Select the Export icon in the top right corner of the page.
- Repeat for Vehicles, Fleets and Inventory.
- For a report, use the export button in the top right of the report. Payment transactions also appear in Shopmonkey under Settings, then Payments, then Transactions.
- If a list has no export option, ask Shopmonkey support for a CSV export of it.
Steps in Pop Dispatch #
- Open Settings, then Import data, and choose Shopmonkey.
- Import in this order: customers, vehicles, accounts (your Fleets), parts. For each one choose the kind of data, choose the file and check the columns.
- Select Check the file and read the problems with their row numbers.
- Select Import.
- Open the lists in Pop Dispatch and compare a few records with Shopmonkey.
Technical details
- Parts match on SKU. Put the vendor's name in the vendor column and Pop Dispatch adds that vendor to your vendors when no vendor of that name exists. An import you undo removes the vendors it added.
- Vehicles find their customer by customer number, phone, email or name.
- A Shopmonkey Vendors export has no matching import. Vendors come over with the parts that name them.
If something goes wrong #
- A column is missing from the mapping. Choose it from the list on the columns step.
- The file is a PDF. Pop Dispatch reads CSV and Excel (.xlsx) only, so ask for another form.
- See Fixing import problems for every message.
