Checked against Pop Dispatch 0.1.0

When your own lot is full, a vehicle can stay at a partner company's yard. You will be able to record where it is, see what the stay costs you, and bring it back on the record.

Before you start #

You need the dispatcher, manager or owner role. The partner has to be on your list (see partner-companies-and-sent-jobs). The vehicle has to have a yard record.

Steps #

  1. Open Tow, then Partner companies and find the storage section.
  2. Record a stay: choose the yard record, choose the partner, enter the daily rate the partner charges and, if it began earlier, the date in.
  3. Read the table: vehicle, partner, daily rate, date in, days and cost so far. Open stays show as open.
  4. When the vehicle comes back, record its return. Enter the date out, or leave it for today. The stay shows as returned with its final cost.
  5. Release the vehicle from the yard record as usual (see yard-intake-storage-and-release).
Technical details
  • GET /tow/third-party-storage?status=open|all, POST /tow/third-party-storage with yard_id, partner_id, daily_cents and in_on, and POST /tow/third-party-storage/:id/return with out_on.
  • While a stay is open, POST /tow/yard/:id/release answers 409 with "This vehicle is stored at <partner>. Record its return first."
  • The cost is the partner's charge to you. What you bill the owner comes from your own storage rate and fees on the yard record.

If something goes wrong #

  • "This vehicle is stored at ... Record its return first.": record the return, then release.
